Mr. Wright, are you just nowcatching up on Aaron Wilson?
That was posted on this message forum last year (#31908, #31916, #31917).I guess you weren't interested then.It was also posted on my old "Wilsons in Williamson County" website, I believe in 2000, in a file called Ten Wilson Brothers From Mecklenburg County. Also on my web site was a typed version of the chapter titled "Eleanor Wilson" from Elizabeth Ellets book "Women of the Revolution" 1852 (Chapter XX, page 347-356),also my time line of events and thetranscribed pension application of Jane Wilson#W 216This is not new stuff to those of us who have been researching this family for years.
For anyone interested, some of this web sitecan still be seen if they are familiar with the site called Wayback Machine. My webpage for "Wilsons in Williamson County",was http://members.aol.com/joypjh2/index.htmlhttp://members.aol.com/joypjh2/index.html.Presently there is a lot more information I could add to that web site regarding the Wilsons, but the site ishistory (lost in space)and I have no access to it.
There is a mistake on my old website regarding the estate of John Wilson.I don't know how the name Sarah got in there as the administrator, and regretfully it cannot be changed now.The estate of John Wilson was administered by Josiah Wilson, his brother, in 1827.It appears John Wilson 1753-1827, son of Robert and Eleanor (Carothers) Wilsonwas not married.
Mr. Wright still has it wrong.
Aaron J. Wilson 13 Nov 1784-29 Aug 1832 was the son James Wilson and wife, who is believed to be Sarah Ogilvie. However, the tombstone inscription (Cole-Wilson Cemetery) in Marsh's book "Cemetery Records of Marshall County" has Aaron A. Wilson, son of Jas. & S. Wilson, with the same dates. The other three Wilson tombstones are for children of A. J. & H. Wilson. The notation for Aaron Wilson's tombstone states the stone was gone in 1979.
Aaron A. Wilson was born 1751, nearly stated as possible, according to thedeposition of Moses Wilson in the pension application of Jane Wilson #W216.Moses Wilson gave the estimated birthdates of his six brothers who served during the Revolutionary war; Joseph, Aaron, John, James, Robert and Samuel. All these apparently served in the Mecklenburg County Militia.
There are cemetery stones in the Cole-Wilson Cemetery for the children of A. J. and H. Wilson, and since Aaron A. Wilson was not married, these tombstone inscriptions are for his nephew Aaron J. and Hannah (Martin) Wilson. Both Aaron J. and Aaron A. were listed on the 1830 census Bedford County, TN. Aaron A. Wilson age 70-80 and A. J. Wilson age 40-50.Marshall County, TN was not formed until 1835.
My conclusion has always been Aaron A. Wilson 1751-1833 was the son of Robert and Eleanor (Carothers) Wilson and Aaron J. Wilson 1784-1832 was the son of James Wilson who died 1843.
James Wilson, son of Robert and Eleanor Carothers Wilson, was born 25 Sep 1757 anddied 11 April 1843.He was the only one of the Wilson brothers to have received a Rev. War Pension.Jane Wilson, the widow of Robert Wilson applied after Robert's death.
It appears Mr. Wright hasconfused James Wilson who died 1843 with James Wilson who died 1838.
James Wilson 1763-1838 was the son of Thomas and Catherine (Carson) Wilson, Williamson County TN Will Bk. 6-516, 21 June 1838.Most descendants believe he married Ruth Davidson. His name is almost always written James Hazard Wilson and he also had a son named James Hazard Wilson born 1800."Hazard" apparently was the maiden name ofCatherine Carson's mother. These two men, both named James Wilson are often confused, and evident in the book "Our Valiant Men".I am notsure if James Wilson 1757-1843 wasmarried two times, or if his wife/wives are confused with James Hazard Wilson, Sr. Both families claim at least one of these women, Ruth Davidson and Sarah Oglivie, andI don't believe their names are documented. Mr. Wright wrote Ruth Wilson applied for a Rev. War pension in 1833 but I think that is his mistake, and I doubt that is true, unless he can come up with a pension number.I personally do not have a complete record of James Hazard Wilson's descendants since my goal was only to gain enough information in order eliminate him as being the James Wilson in our family.
Mr. Wright's message #32457 October 29, 2013confused manymen named James Wilson, and I am sure I am not the only person who CANNOT understand how Mr. Wright came up with all these conclusions. Middle initials are easily misread and mixed-up and probably should be used with caution.
