Dear Mrs Collins,
Thank you for your letter of 16 February, 1999. Lake's Parochial History
of Cornwall under the entry for Lanreath Parish says that the Manor of Treyer, Treheir or Treire was conveyed by a man called Fursdon in the 4th year of Henry VI (1425), to a man named Cook and others. In the reign of Henry VIII (1509-
1547) it was the joint property of Sir Peter Edgcumbe and John Tolcarne.
Latterly the manor became the joint property of the Glynns and the Rashleighs. I have not been able to trace the place name of Merlot in Cornwall, so this could conceivably refer to a non-Cornish lord or landholders. I hope that these few
notes will prove useful.
Yours sincerely,
David Thomas,

Joan's son John had a son named Edmund who was born in 1496 in Lanreath, Cornwall. He and Johann had ten children. I am a descendant of their son Pascho Wilton (1558-1639) who married Sybbie. Their son John Wilton married Elizabeth Bower (8/7/1620 in Cornwall). John was born in 1595 and died 8/7/1650. He and Elizabeth are the parents of Joan and John.
John (1640-1725) was born in Linkinhorne and married Honor, the daughter of Samson Pett. Their son Sampson was the oldest of three children. He married Dorothy Dawe, the daughter of John Dawe (1639-1673). I am a descendant of their son Sampson (1701-1764) who married Agnes Nile, the child of John (1691-1725) and Elizabeth Nile.
Sampson and Agnes had ten children. Their son John WIlton (1746-1826) married Mary Marks. Their son John (1775-1799) was the oldest of ten children. He married Elizabeth Harvey on 9/19/1793 in St. Cleer. Their daughter Elizabeth (Betsy) Wilton(b. 6/4/1799 in Marhamchurch, Cornwall) married Thomas Orchardon April 24, 1815 in Marhamchurch, Cornwall. She and Thomas and their ten children lived in Bude and immigrated to New York, a 2-3 month journey in 1840.
Thomas died in Cleveland, Ohio and she and the children became pioneers to Grey County, Ohio, founding Orchardville. She became the Postmaster of the town, remarried and died in 1864. She was buried in the Maplewood Cemetery in Orchardville/Grey County, Ontario.
