My father was another Joseph William Markey (they never used "Junior" or "III". He had a brother, Nicholas Jay, and two sisters, who were fraternal twins ... Florence and Betty (Mary Elizabeth). They all moved to Cedar Rapids, IA around 1930. My dad was 8. His brother Nick and his family (Elizabeth, Joseph William, and Michael (?)) stayed around Iowa. Betty did also, but never married. Flo is in Michigan and spauned a long line. My siblings and I were all born in Iowa.
I am in Atlanta. I had a deceased adopted half brother, and a brother, Matthew Jay (several kids and a couple of grand kids) in Atlanta and a sister, Patricia Hope in Gainesville, FL (no kids). I have a son, Joseph, in the Air Force in Hawaii, and another, Nicholas, here in Atlanta and a daughter Margaret. No grandchildren yet. I will send you an excel file of our branch if you like ... send me an email to my address (it should show, and yours does not.)
Again, thank you. I look forward to piecing all of this together. There is a Dorothy Stiers (sp?) around New Orleans that is part of the upper branches. Do you have her? I only remember the name (she would be 70's I guess?). There also was a cousin of my father's named Carroll (Markey??) who was a high-end antique dealer in N.O. ... killed himself. ... David
