Sue:
I certainly hope you have not been holding your breath waiting for a reply to your 2002 posting.
I have but one Leah Cannon whom I have run across, but I don't think she fits your bill. She was the daughter of Thomas Cannon (who died in /@ 1771) and was still a minor in 1779.Ergo, she would have had to have been born after, let's say, 1758, and much more likely, @ or after 1761.
Thus, she would have been pregnant, at latest, age 15, to be the mama of your Cannon Prettyman. Not likely the correct one; or very precocious.
I do, however, have a Prettyman Cannon, the fourth child of Elijah Cannon (b @ 1730; d. 1805 - Sussex County, Delaware). That suggests that the mother of Prettyman Cannon was . . . . Ta-Da!, a Prettyman. Also, since the information available to me shows Elijah may have been married to a Nancy Cannon (hopefully a cousin), or perhaps an Arcada LNU (last name unknown), and that the next child was named "Wingate Cannon," (suggesting a substitution of wives and mothers), the mother of Prettyman Cannon will have to live in history as FNU LNU (possibly Prettyman), unless you have any insights.
Can you rescue her from oblivion?
Do ya mind not waiting 3 years, as I did, before responding?
