Dear Patricia,
that's a big surprise that I had not expected. My ancestors were from the same village as your ancestors. In former time, there were three lines of Wirth in this village, which probably all go back to a common ancestor. My great-grandfather Markus Wirth was born in 1846 in Rotenfels (Baden, Germany) and later he married in a neighboring village where I live today. And his son, my grandfather, emigrated to Canada in 1911. But after the first World War, he was repatriated and he came back to Germany. Another sister of my great-grandfather with the name Helen Schottmueller nee Wirth emigrated in 1889 to St. Louis Missouri. But I don't have more informations about this family.
In my research I have found that your great-great grandfather Lawrence (Lorenz)Wirth wo came in 1852 to Louisiana, only one year later at the age of 40 or 44(?) died of yellow fever,8-5-1853 in St. Vincent de Paul. I have much more informations, including pictures of my former family Wirth and the village of Rotenfels. If you want it I can send it to you.
And also I would be interested at your further informations.
Thank you
Mario Wirth
