I know this Witcher family is confusing. They name their children after their siblings and uncles and grandfathers so that in each generation the names are repeated many times. One really has to be careful, pay attention to dates and names. My Daniel Witcher is the Daniel Witcher mentioned as residing in Cabell County in Western Virginia in William Rueben Witcher's will. This Daniel is the one who married Sarah (Sally) Ward, 22 DEc 1785 in Pittsylvania, VA. She was daughter of Jeremiah Ward and Mary Anne Sanders (Saunders). This Daniel Witcher went west to Kanawha County Virginia in the late 1700s probably after the Rev. War along with his father-in-law, Jeremiah Ward and Thomas Ward, Jeremiah's nephew. They explored that area and there are creeks named both Ward and Witcher there. They later settled in Cabell County and also in Wayne County, both along the Ohio River near Guyandotte. They lived there for several generations. Finally producing General John S. Witcher a Union general from West Virginia.I come from Emily Witcher who was probaby an Aunt of the General. She married a Richard Sharp and moved to Kentucky. This family were abolitionist and never moved to Texas or Tennesse. They finally ended up in Indiana being one of the families who moved North because of slavery. John Witcher Sharp who moved to Sharpville Indiana was the last to carry the Witcher name in my family. There are probably many more in West Virginia. I have lots of documentation and information about this family and am happy to share.....
