EDWARD WOLCOTT was born in Pike, Wyoming Co., NY, on the homestead farm, now owned and managed by him, Dec. 16th, 1835. He has been assessor but has never sought office. He was married Oct. 24th, 1859, to Miss L.A. MARTIN, daughter of William W. Martin, a native of Washington Co., NY and a farmer of Pike, Wyoming Co., NY, well and favorably known. Mr. Wolcott's father, George W. Wolcott, was born in Sandersfield, Berkshire Co., MA, and was of English descent, his greath grandfather and two brothers, having emigrated from England to America at an early day. In 1829 he came from Massachusetts with an ox-team, bought the farm where his son lives, became prosperous and respected, and died May 15th, 1874, aged seventy-eight, leaving a family, all of whom have been highly esteemed and prominently identified with the advancement of the best interests of the town. Mr. Wolcott's mother was also of English origin; was born in Sandersfield, MA, and died, aged seventy, Nov. 24th, 1869. Her mother's maiden name was Ann Bush.
