Hi everybody. Greetings from the UK.
The family name Woodburn is believed to be originally descended from the Strathclyde Britons. This ancient founding race of the north were a mixture of Gaelic/Celts whose original territories ranged from Lancashire in the south, northward to the south bank of the river Clyde in Scotland. They were divided into three sub-kingdoms, the Selgovians south of the Clyde, the Novantiiin Galloway in south west Scotland, and the Rhiged to the south in Cumberland, Westmorland, and Lancashire.
......"the first record of the name Woodburn was found in Northumberland where they had been seated from very ancient times, before and after the Norman conquest of 1066".......
All this and much more if anybody else is so sad that they are remotely interested. Plus bibliography of course.
Regards the nutter from over the pond.
