Rosemary,
The person who put up the website you referred to seems to have made at least one mistake :it claims that Abraham Woodhead (born 1716) is claimed on the site to have married Elizabeth Dyson in 1730 when he would ahve been aged 13-14.
The Abraham who married in Elizabeth Dyson in 1730 is described as a Netherthong resident aged 40 on the marriage licence. He can be identified by the will of his father Joshua Woodhead of Netherthong, who died in 1720.
The naming patterns suggest that the Abraham who was the father of Abraham born in 1716 was possibly not too distantly related to the other Woodheads in the same parish.
But great care needs to be taken because there were numerous Woodhead families in the region, some of whom were quite distantly related to one another, even though they lived very close byand traditionally used the names Joshua, Abraham and John. It's very easy to get them mixed up.
Over the next couple of years I hope a few of us can work towards clarifying the very complex matrix of Woodhead families in this part of West Yorkshire.
