About thirty years ago I visited Taylor's Island, DorchesterCounty, Maryland. There in the country, I espied a few old gravestones of the island's family named "Navy"; later near Jacksonville, N.C. (big U.S. Marine Corps base), in the 1700's deeds; I read of a family named "Marine"; the first, and last times, I've heard of the Navy and Marine families.
There is a lovely, brick, quaint, county church near Taylor's Island; Methodist or Episcopalian; that I believe the Woollens once attended. A must see; if you visit. A nice site for a re-union, and memorial stone to the family; and perhaps a U.S. government memorial stone to the Patriot soldier; Lt. Leavan Woollen, Sr., of the "New Market Blues"?
