Wortman - Brooklyn and Philadelphia
I am seeking any information on the family of my greatgrandfather, Seth Wortman.Although not an orphan, Seth arrived in Indiana on a New York orphan train in 1859 where his surname was misunderstood and changed to Worthman.
I am trying to trace his family which lived in Brooklyn, NY, and Philadelphia, PA:
William Henry Wortman, b:abt 1813; d:Oct.1898. Married in NY to E.D.(Ester or Mary) Brennan, b:abt. 1813; d:9/23/1892.
Children: (all born in N.Y.?)
John Henry Wortman, b:abt.1838; never married
Henry Wortman, b:abt.1843; married Clemans (Clementine) had at least two sons who lived to adulthood, Wallie and Jeff.
Robert Wortman (twin of Henry) b:abt.1843; never married
Selena Wortman, never married, lived with brother John Henry.
Seth Worthman(Wortman), b:Jan.1848; d:11/17/1931, married Melissa Ellen Beason (this is my great grandfather).
Frank Wortman, also on orphan train, died after 1860 census.
Joseph Wortman, also on orphan train, whereabouts unknown.
