Blackfeet Indian or Blackfeet band of Lakota Sioux? I assume you are referring to the Sihasapa band of Lakota...this is the term you should use or most people..even if you went to Fort Yates and said "Blackfeet" they'll think you meant Blackfeet Indian from the Blackfeet Rez in Montana or Calgary, AB!! Teehee :)
The Hunkpapa and Sihasapa are at Standing Rock ND and SD. ===========================================================

The Lakota (sometimes called Tetons - "prairie dwellers") have 7 bands:
Oglala ("they scatter their own", or "dust scatterers"),
Sicangu (or Brule - "Burnt Thighs"),
Hunkpapa ("end of the circle"),
Miniconjous ("planters beside the stream"),
Sihasapa (or Blackfeet, not to be confused with the separate Blackfeet tribe),
Itazipacola (or Sans Arcs: "without bows"), and Oohenupa ("Two Boilings" or "Two Kettle")

I lived in Fort Yates for bout 2 years when i was 16-17 living with my boyfriend at the time and his family...not much there but a little store, game room, gas station, and if I remember correctly a Taco Johns! If you go a little ways out to Cannon Ball you'll be at the Prairie Nights Casino/Hotel/RV parking...really nice one and good prime rib ta boot! mmmmmm mmmmmm :)
I moved back to ND a year ago last March, and now I'm back in WA...I'm city'fied now what can I say! LOL
You'll LOVE the badlands...my favorite spot too...try to see the views as the sun goes down....are you going to the ND or SD badlands? The ND Badlands are along I94 near the Montana boarder "Theodore Roosevelt National Park" and about 200 miles or so from Fort Yates. The SD Badlands "Badlands National Park" are east of Rapid City and boarder the Pine Ridge Reservation , SW part of the state.
Nation-Wide Powwow? Are you speaking about the United Tribes Pow-Wow in Sept. 4-7? This will be the 34th annual.
