Thanks for your help. I had been unable to locate him in the 1900 census at all- never crossed my mind to look for her other maternal relatives! I was thrilled with this find!
Yes, I have the family traced back to 1645, I am just searching for the descendants of Miles Bishop and Nancy Jane Matney now- their grandchildren, in particular. Miles Bishop and Nancy were both born in Pike Co Ky, all of their 15 children were born there with the exception of my husband's grandfather and his baby sister; Roscoe Bishop and Julia Bishop. Roscoe married Grace Alma McClurg, Julia married a man named Daw Nichols- Roscoe and Julia were both born in Morgan Co Ky where the family settled. Some of the kids, such as Alex, and Roland, stayed in Pike Co and never left, as they were old enough by the time that Miles and Nancy left Pike for Morgan. The older boys, Alex, Hawkins, Roland, etc; have always been a mystery to me- in particular Alex and Hawkins.
