I have a studio picture of a young man who I believe to be John Samuel Skidmore that was probably made around 1900. He is dressed in suit, narrow tie, long overcoat, boots and a stetson hat. He is standing and one hand rests on the back of a chair. The picture is mounted in a sturdy cardboard frame. Embossed in the right lower corner of the frame is "Photo by G___ (I can't read the rest of it.) Marlinton, W VA". On the Pocohantas County website is posted a picture of John Duffield as a young man. He is standing beside a chair. It is the same chair and background as in the picture I have. It is also the same type frame. Also, I think I recognize John Skidmore in one of the pictures of the Duffield young men and friends. I am trying to find out about John Skidmore's background; he was supposed to have been born in West Virginia. He is a lead to scaling my brick wall, my Grandfather, James Sidney Able. Can anyone help me with the name of the photography studio; whether there were Skidmores there around the turn of the century and the location of Slaty Fork?
Thank you much
