Thank you.

I do have information on Phebe Ann KING, daughter of John & Elisabeth KING, and sister to William H. KING.

Phebe was married in Bruceton on 1 Jan 1857 to George M. MICHAEL, when she was age 28 (making her birth year approximately 1828). The source for this information is "Preston County Marriages 1853-1860," compiled and published by Roy L. Lockhart in 1998 (published by the Preston County historical Society). This record lists Phebe's parents as John & Elisabeth KING.

I believe Phebe Ann went by her middle name early in life, explaining why the name "Ann," age 22, is found on the 1850 census along with William (age 24) and Elizabeth (age 50). However, she was back as "Phebe A. MICHAEL" on the 1860 census, with her new husband. By 1880, she and her family are living in Wayne County, OH, which is where Valentine's family had moved years earlier (prior to 1850). This geographical connection may be the cause of some of the confusion. I do not believe that Valentine and Ruth (FLEMING) KING had a daughter named Phebe.

I do not have anything on a Josephine KING. If she was a daughter to Valentine and Ruth, she is not listed on the 1850 census with Ruth. She had either died by then or was married. I could not find anyone named Josephine, born around 1830, living in Monroe County, OH, on the 1850 census.

Valentine's death date is some day in April 1850. His name is found on the 1850 Mortality Schedule for Monroe County, OH:

Valentine King, age 60, male, born in VA, died April, Farmer, Cause of death: Erycipelas, ill 14 days.

I hope this helps. Thanks for the potential marriage date for my John and Elisabeth. I would someday love to find that source document. Take care.

Scott
