Underground Railroad figure from Camden, WV

Have you heard of John Fairfield? He was an Underground Railroad conductor from Camden, WV. He could have come from either Camden-on-Gauley in Webster County, or Camden in Lewis County. Do you know?
Fairfield was not his real name. Maybe his first name was John, but it could have been a false name too.
He is said to have been the son of a slave owner. Were there slave owning families who lived at Camden-on-Gauley? If so, who were they? John Fairfield worked as a conductor, guiding slaves to freedom, beginning about 1830. His work continued for two decades before he disappeared on a rescue mission in the south.
If you have any information on the slave owners, the domestic slave trade or the Underground Railroad in West Virginia, I'd love to hear from you!
