Glenn, WV has a very good gen archieves system ( at times it is quirky however; one day it hums and the next day she won't turn over. Kind of like an old IH "cornbinder" pickup huh? ) Easiest way to access that system is to go to JACKSON CO. WV GENEALOGY page. On the right side halfway down there's a link to the archieves. Has birth, death marriage. Using "marriage " put in Earl's name. It came up that he married a lady 8 yrs. older than himself in 1948 when he was a mature 37 years old. Her name was Iva Billiter Watkins of Sistersville, Tyler Co. WV which is probably 25 miles upriver on the Ohio from Williamstown which is 12 or 15 miles north of Parkersburg. Iva had been married to Presley Layman Watkins. Out of sheer nosiness I'll try and find out what happened to him. Don't know what happened to Iva yet either. Marriage may not have lasted long as Mary Hilda was 33 when Earl married Iva. I can't remember right now w/o looking it up again but I'm thinking Hilda's obit said something about having a relative named Iva in Pleasants Co. May just be a cowinkidink. Ritchie Co. where Hida was from is about a half hour east of Parkersburg. Earl was born in Morgantown WV home of the WVU Mountaineers. That's on the N.E. border of WV with PA. Recall from the obit that Earl had been a long term lodge member in PA. As you can tell, I enjoy analyzing the geography to see how people got together and what caused them to move on. I'm from 30 miles south of Parkersburg but have been in central Wisconsin for 25 years. Glad to get into a hunt anytime. Out, Fletch
