Hello Tony
The SS heron was launched in 1890 and had a yardage of 141. The type of ship it was is down as 'Irn Ser Str' whatever that is. It may have been torpedoed and sunk west of Ushant in 1917. Decide for yourself here http://www.theshipslist.com/ships/lines/generalsnc.htmhttp://www.theshipslist.com/ships/lines/generalsnc.htm There are documents on the NARA site but you must search there yourself....start here ....www.hmc.gov.uk/nra/browser/corporate/page/corporateSS.htm
The actual plans of the ship can be purchased from this site http://www.dundeecity.gov.uk/archives/gourlay2.htmhttp://www.dundeecity.gov.uk/archives/gourlay2.htm
Lusitanina sinking and the heron collecting the dead;http://www.studentxpress.ie/features/hist.html
Thats all I could find ....it aint a lot but its a start.
Enjoy.
Tom.
