From US to Canada to fight!
My grandfa: Ernest Reginald Lloyd b. 1899 Llanbradach, Wales came to America in 1912. He was not yet naturalized as a US citizen and so denied the opportunity to join the US Army to fight in WWI.So, as the family story goes, he went to Canada and joined up. No living member of the family knows any more than that about his military service.
Can anyone direct me as to where to look for him? Does this story make sense? Were there other men in same/similar situation that would have chosen to go to Canada to enlist?
My grandfa was in Saratoga Springs, NY at the time. Is there a certain place he probably would have gone to to enlist in Canada?
thanks for your help.
