Help in transcribing 1916 diary
Hello,
I'm transcribing the personal (1916) diary of my great-uncle who was killed in action at Passchendaele in Oct 1917. I'd be grateful for help in clearing up some remaining points. (He was in the 3rd Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery).
Can anyone tell me what the following military jargon/initials mean:
1. DAVO [as in "Inspection by DAVO"]
2. DoG [as in"Busy with DoG making out barrage tables"]
3. WAR [as in "Took over from W.A.R."]
4. DAC [as in "Received 6 horses from DAC"]
5. a.p. [as in "Squadron of 20 a.p.'s pass over"]
6. OC [as in "OC Brigade inspected"]
7. WL [as in "In charge of W.L.", "Went down to W.L."]
8. NP [could this be something similar to OP = Observation Post?]
Many thanks, John, UK
