163rd Depot Brigade and 87th Division 335th co.

My Grandfather's brother, John Ehrenberg, was a US soldier during WW1. I have copied the paragraph below verbatim from his obituary.

"In 1917 he joined the army and followed the flag across the sea as a wagoner in Casual Attachment 267 and the 163rd Depot Brigade. He was transferred to the 335th Company, 87th division, Field Artillery, and served until the Armistice was signed. He left the United States, September 11, 1918, and returned, April 5, 1919."

I have the following questions:

What were the duties of a wagoner?
Why was he inducted at Fort Riley, Kansas if the two assignments he had were from Iowa and Arkansas?

Also, I have been trying to locate information regarding the duty posts that his units might have had overseas or if they were involved in any battles. I have been unable to this point. Has anyone else found anything?

Has anyone found any pictures of Fort Riley during WW1? I have found plenty of Camp Funston but none specifically of Fort Riley.
