There were 3 draft registration card formats and one didn't have a question/section "Nearest Relative, name and address" which is usually the wife if married. I looked at the card and it is the card that didn't have it. Only asks if regististrant had a father, mother, wife, or children solely dependant on them. He wrote in "wife".

All U.S. Military records are at the National Archive Records Administration (NARA) www.archives.gov
They had a fire in 1973 and you can read about it and how to gather information should a serviceman's record been burned. Also check if any widow's benefits were available and used.

I checked the 1920 U.S.Census for a widowed female "Wlodyka" and didn't find one. All were either single, wives or daughters. Also no "Wlodyka" stepchildren or grandchildren.
