I am looking for any info on MORETON HAND.He was born 1887,Battersea,London. He was the son of Walter Mark William Edward John Hand and Jessie Dagmar Day.
He served in the 2/London Reg. first and then moved on to the 20th Durham light infantry. He was a Colour srj. in the London reg. and a Captain in the Durhams, when he died on the 31/7/1917 Ypres.
The family story was : He was killed by 3 German soldiers on a street corner in Ypres. His mother never recovered from this story and died "of a broken heart" in 1922.
Moreton married Winnifred Townsend in 1915. I am not sure if they had any children?

Any info would be much appreciated. I have two photographs of him in his uniform and would be happy to share any other info on the family I have.

Thank you in advance
Amanda
