Hi Barb
I checked the Commonwealth War Graves Commisssion http://www.cwgc.org/ but could not find Charles. You mention he played in the Vimy band http://www.worldmilitarybands.com/history_of_the_royal_canadian_re.htm this may be a helpful site.

I am not 100% sure if the records may be kept at the National Archives at Kew in London, as it appears he may have been in the Canadian army? I am enclosing their hyperlink and I am sure they would point you in the right direction for records you are seeking http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/

Their contact details:
The National Archives, Kew, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 4DU. Tel: +44 (0) 20 8876 3444. ...
www.nationalarchives.gov.uk - Cached

Best Wishes in yoour search

Janice
