Thank you, Patty, for the information.

Future records show his occupation as a welder, so the metals comment makes sense. Any ideas why he would be paid two week's salary on leaving for that?

Since I have a couple more ancestors that served and I still need to look up, is there a book or somewhere I can look for this type of information?

If not I can always post the question here again.
