Emett Latham, born July 1897 in Mississippi, son of Frank and Lucy Latham, shows up in the 1900 census in Holly Pond, Cullman, Alabama. See here:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/M98Z-RG8

Emitt Latham, born approximately 1898 in Mississippi, is in the 1910 census in the household of his grandparents, John A. and Martha J. Latham in Baileyton, Cullman, Alabama. That reference is here:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/MKQC-KHQ

The Social Security Death Index shows an Emmette Latham, born 26 June 1897, died July 1967 in Marion, Missouri. The image is here:
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/JLG2-5Z7

An Emitt Latham married Vivian Morris on 11 July 1920 in Robertson, Tennessee. No further identifying information is given.

I don't know if any or all of these are your Emmett L. Latham. I found these on www.familysearch.org There were other Emmett Lathams there, but the birthdates didn't seem right.

www.familysearch.org is a free genealogy search site. Another good search site is www.ancestry.com, but it is a pay site. I usually go to my local library when I need to use that site.
