Yes, from the information I provided you, it appears to me that you could request the Purple Heart award based on the information on your grand fathers documents. Just because I read it that way, doesn't make it so...but it wouldn't hurt at all to ask the question to the agency that has the authority to issues the awards and decorations. From what I read, there can not be any markings or corrections made to the original document...so don't attempt to highlight or "go over" any faded words on the document.
