John O. Thompson also appears in the 1930 census as a patient at Perry Point, Cecil MD, so he apparently spent a lot of years in hospitals/Veteran Home; have you inquired at the last Veteran's Home? Could your VA Rep help trace him? He does not appear in the Social security death index, so he must have died prior to SS enactment. The Adjuctant General's office keeps records on all veterans..there has to be some record for him.
