via Google i found the panoramic photo of the 109th Field Engineers of the 34th Division in 1818 at

of course i could readily spot my uncle
NOT!
i'm not sure he was even in the 109th, but it gives some idea of his division
thanks for all the info you have provided

next stop: National Archives here in Washington DC
maybe after it warms up
and election anger cools down

whoever wins today, half the country will be disappointed or worse
