Hi, I do hope you can get what unit your Uncle Elbert was in...Corps,Division,Regiment etc...Battalion, Battery...etc. It will help you so much in your research. I would just ask him for those things...and then take it from there on your own. But maybe also ask him about the funny things that he remembers. Maybe that will get him to open up a bit.

Anyway..good luck with your search. Well worth it. We want to keep that history alive.
