Actualy my ancestor was Elbert (grandfather) Albert was my uncle. My grandfather has been know to tell some funny stories. My favorite by far was when he said his bomber group was flying over a dam and there was a large group of people I am assuming it was Refuges. They were flying over them and when they went towards them they went the other way and then they flew back over and they scrambled in the other direction and it took them the longest time before they realized that a long chain with a heavy ball at the end that was supposedly attached to each plane when they were grounded. Well they had left the ball on instead of detaching it like they were supposed to. So the ball was low enough to the ground that the people were in danger of being hit by it. He also said that when they would shine there shoes and go out on pass they would pass shoeshiner stands on every street and when you walked by they would ask you if you would want a shoe shine and my grandfather would say no I already shined them. Then the shiners would spit on them to make him and his friends get there shoes shined. I think this was when he was stationed near the Taj Mahaul (spelling might be wrong sorry). One of the pictures I have of him and my grandmother have him in uniform and he had what I thought appeared to be corpral marks.
