Morning Reports, L Company, 157th Inf. Regiment, 45th Infantry Division

Yesterday, I received the Morning Reports
for L Company, 157th Infantry Regiment, 45th
Infantry Division, from 1 January to 28 February 1945.

This covers the period of the bloody battle of Reipertswiller, France, and its aftermath, when the regiment received over 1,200 enlisted men and officers to replace its losses.

There are lots of names in these reports, which I hope
to scan and upload this weekend.

By the way, it appears the Replacement system
devised by the Army was poorly conceived
and badly executed for most of the war:
