Hi, Not sure what information you have or don't have so here are some ideas.

If you haven't tried getting his records from the NPRC, here is the website to get the Standard Form 180 in order to do so. If they say his records burned, keep after them.

I would contact the Sexton of the Cemetery where he is buried as they should have some information on his military service since it is a National Cemetery.

If you know where he enlisted, contact the State Archives and/or the County Clerk where he was residing. They may have his full enlistment and his DD214 (discharge) papers.

You might contact this website and ask about the unit he was in.
