Dear J.P,
The date I had given was my father's entry date 1943.I didn't know where to start. On these papers I have service inside U.S. 1 year 3 months and service outside U.S. June 1944 thru December 1945. Battles and Campaigns/ EASTERN MANDATES, GROUND COMBAT IWO JIMA. Decorations were WW11 VICTORY RIBBON, GOOD CONDUCT MEDALS, AMERICAN THEATER RIBBON AND TWO BRONZE SERVICE STARS. Occupation Portable Power Generator Operator and Sharpshooter Rifle.
I am searching information on the battle and what these decorations mean. Also, how long did that battle last.
Please excuse me for not knowing any of this. My father did not talk of this.
THANK YOU,
SHARON
