If you were sent a list of the men's names from the Army U.S. Army Human Resources Command then post them here with the question were any relatives sent personal effects then or any time later after the war.
I would also post the same question of notication and personal effects on each the the surname message boards of the solider's surnames on the list. Do it on GenForum as well as Rootsweb.com WII and surname message boards.

Since you are his son you might try to see if the Government is collecting DNA samples of MIA/KIA descendants for future identifying of remains.

You could do you own DNA profile and storage through a family genealogy company.
