Hi, Here is a little blurb about the 355th Eng Bn. I would suggest to maybe research the 9th Army and all it's attachments...or assigned units. There is a difference between attached and assigned. And the site below this first one has other links that you might check into.

Here is what I believe to be your father's partial enlistment record. If you want to find out more, you might contact the County Clerk and State Archives of the state where he enlisted/drafted. Also, have you written for his military records from the NPRC? If not, complete the Standard Form 180 within the site below. Tell them that you are asking per the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) and that 62 years have passed so you don't need next of kin to get the information. It may take 6 months or more and they may give you the "burned" answer. But according to information...it mostly affected men whose names began with H-Z. Also, if he received VA benefits, contact a regional VA office where he resided at the time of collection as they may have information as well.
