Can't find much, but for what it's worth, I submit:

204th Engineer Combat Battalion was activated
25 Feb 1943, at Fort Devens, Mass.;
departed NYPE, 2 Jan 44;
arrived England, 8 Jan 44;
arrived France-ETO, 2 Jul 44.

Campaigns (5):
Normandy, 2 Jul 44 / 24 Jul 44; (D-Day + 28)
Northern France, 25 Jul 44 / 14 Sept 44;
Ardennes-Alsace, 16 Dec 44 / 24 Jan 45;
(Battle of the Bulge)
Central Europe, 22 MAR 44 / 11 May 45;
Rhineland, 15 Sept 44 / 11 May 45.

Location at war's end (ETO):
Burglengengeld, Germany.

Arrived NYPE, 26 Oct 45;
inactivated Camp Kilmer, NJ, 27 Oct 45.

This would have been a non-divisional battalion, attached to varioius senior elements on an as-needed-where-needed
basis.

If you want to go further, go to:
<ETO Divisions Order of Battle>,
which lists the 100+plus Infantry and Armored Divisions.

Bring up each, and drop down the list to ATTACHMENTS, where you will find the 204th included several times, I'm sure.

I can't find a listing of any ships out of NYPE on 2 Jan 44,
nor one arriving NYPE, 26 Oct 45.

That list has been updated, and you MAY locate something at :
<WW II Troop Ship Crossings>.

Good luck.

Louie F. Turner.
