I'm looking for information regarding the military career of my grandfather, Clinton CHISHOLM. I sent for his file, but NARA sent me a letter saying that his records had probably been destroyed in a fire, but that the government confirmed that he had fought in WW2. They sent me an embossed letter certifying this. I'm hoping someone else might have some more details.

Here's what I know: Clinton CHISHOLM was born October 7, 1905 in Raleigh MS. He married Thelma HIGGINBOTHAM August 7, 1932 in St. Joseph LA. In 1942, he enlisted as a private at Camp Shelby with army serial #34480390.

He served in the Pacific and I know he talked about Papau New Guinea. I've been told he served under Paul B. Johnson, the future governor of Mississippi. When he was in the service his best friend there was named Clint Jaffey. After the war he returned home to his wife and they had several daughters.
