I find him listed in a database titled "U.S. Rosters of World War II Dead 1939-1945" with Navy Serial # 6173259.
Check with the NARA (www.archives.gov) about obtaining his service records to find out what other decorations or medals he was entitled to. Also there might be information as to who was given his personal effects left on the carrier or family member they were sent to. The fire NARA had in 1973 didn't affect Navy records as they were stored elsewhere at the time.
