131 US Evacuation Hospital, Camp Mauthausen, 1945

Hi,

I am helping someone in Poland who is searching for information on:
Janusz Jerzy Wasyluk
born: Aug. 20, 1929 in Warsaw, Poland
father: Marcin Wasyluk
mother: Amelia, maiden name Szkudlarska
last heard from: May 23, 1945 -- 131 US Evacuation Hospital, Camp Mauthausen - Gusen

Janusz and his family were imprisoned by the Germans during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944. The family was sent to several camps. Janusz was sent to Auschwitz and then to Mauthausen/Gusen. Janusz's fate is not known. The fate of others in this family is known (Marcin died in Auschwitz).

The Polish Red Cross informed the family that on June 8, 1945, Janusz was in the 131 US Evacuation Hospital in camp Mauthausen. Janusz wrote a letter, dated May 23, 1945 to his father. No one has heard from Janusz after the date of the letter.

Is there a way of getting ahold of the records of 131 US Evacuation Hospital in Camp Mauthausen to determine the fate of the patients? Or possibly the records of the 130 US Evacuation Hospital stationed in Camp Gusen.

The family has written to Bad Aarolsen (International Tracing Service).

Any help will be deeply appreciated.

Cordially,

Basia
