Hello J.P. Johnston.
Thank you for your interest in this matter and it has been a help, the information i have is from a poem i found in my mums house after she became ill with Alzimhiers but there has been some confusion ( my fault ) my dad died in 1985 of cancer after his death i found out he was adopted by the Smyths at 18 months old, after speaking to mum i found out his real name was Tourish, i did checks and found lots of Tourish familys in England and America but none here in Northern Ireland, I know the last area my real Grandparents lived was Castlederg and then i found the poem written by James Keeran about Alexander Tourish about him serving at Flanders and being killed a half hour after arriving there at the age of 20 on the 23rd of May 1941,I can now look at them names of James C and Elizabeth, I was also told my Grandfather served in a war ( sorry i don't know which one ) Thomas Tourish, I am new to all this so once again thank you for your interest.
Gordon
