Hi, No expert and not related. I obtained this information from the NARA site.

If he survived the war, you may be able to get his full enlistment and discharge information from the County Clerk's office of Fulton County, GA or from the clerk's office where he ended up living or was from. Also check with the State Archives of GA or the state he ended up living in or was from.

If he obtained VA benefits, check with the VA. If he had a military burial here in the states, check with the Sexton of the Cemetery and the funeral home that handled his burial.

And this could be his information on the SSDI list. Sorry if it is bad news.
