PVT. Archie P. Layton was born on August 22, 1921 (probably in Indiana). In December 1940 a marriage license was issued to Archie P. Layton and Mary Landis (in Missouri).
According to army records there were three different addresses for Mary after the war:
- 124 Alfred Street, Detroit MI
- RR #2 Makanda IL
- 750 South State Street, Elgin IL

- 2304 West Mc Carty Street, Indianapolis IN
Mother Alice L. Smith
- General Delivery, Peoria (or Pekin) IN
- 1446 South 2nd Street
