The next papers were the petition or application for citizenship and this sometimes lists the port of entry and date of entry. From there you may be able to find the manifest of the ship passengers. Be aware, however, it does not contain a lot of geneal. info. Names, ages, place of birth, amt of luggages sometimes, and sometimes the place they will be traveling to. Many Wy. Declarations of Intent and following papers are missing from court houses if they were done before 1906 when the Federal Courts took over. Also, after the waiting period, many simply waited for the next court session to come around, took their papers with them, and swore allegiance, then were named citizens--so no formal certificates may have been issued. Also, the reasons to become a citizen were quite small. If you wanted this "honor", many did it, but others made no attempt to finish their citizenship. The only other reason to become a citizen was l. To vote and 2. to own a homestead. If I can answ. any other questions, e mail me so we can go into more detail. Thanks. Sharon.
