Bettelyoun Flats is in Platte Co. west and a little south of Fort Laramie, Wy. Fort Laramie, Wy. is in Goshen Co, Wy. It was named for Zisaac Bettelyoun, a trapper who built a cabin in the area in 1867. I know he had an Sioux wife and children. He left the area, and as I recall, his family were raised on the reservation in South Dakota. As to where the location of Fort Laramie is, look on a map and follow the Platte River from Nebr. through the Wyoming border and you will see Ft. Laramie just west of Torrington, Wy. Do not confuse Fort Laramie, Wy. in Goshen Co, with Laramie City, Wy. in Albany Co. along the southern border Of Wy. Also, just to add to the confusion, Cheyenne, Wy. is in Laramie County! So you see, we have Three "Laramies" in Wy. By the way, LaRamie was a French trapper as was Bettelyoun, LaBonte, Bordoux, etc. that all came to Wy. Hope this helps. If you need to write again, please write by e mail. It is much easier for me to answer Thank you. Sharon.
