We are looking for information on the Tracy family from Iowa Point, KS. Benjamin Tracy was born in 1835 in Kentucky. He moved to Iowa Point, Kansas and married 3 times, first in 1855 to Elizabeth Devault, then in 1842 to Tabitha Beasley, and finally in 1856 to Anna Simpson. Benjamin and Anna had seven children: Daniel (approx 1886), Verdon (approx 1880), Kate (approx 1882), Edmond (approx 1886), George (approx 1889), Grover (approx 1890) and Fred, July 1896. Fred was my grandfather. Benjamin died in 1897. Anna took the six younger kids with her and headed to California. She settled in the Long Beach, Los Angeles area.
Verdon (female) ended up in Sheridan, Wyoming, and Grover was in Cheyenne, Wyoming on the 1910 US Census as an 18 year old. Fred joined his sister in Sheridan, Wyoming as a teenager and she helped raise him. He joined the army in Sheridan in 1918 and was discharged there. He is listed as married when he joined the army, and on the 1920 US Census he is still in Sheridan, a boarder, listed as married, age 24. Fred married Mary McKeehan about 1925 in Long Beach, California, and they had a daughter (Elaine Tracy, my mother) in 1926. Fred died in 1929 of tuberculosis at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Denver, Colorado when my mother was only 2 years old.
I would like to find his first wife's name and find out if they had a daughter. My mother says he told her mother he had to leave behind a daughter when he and his first wife divorced. She would be in her 80s now and my mom's half-sister. My mother would like to find her. Any information on this Tracy line, would help my mother find her cousins...and possibly her half sister.
