Mary Davis of Cheyenne

I've come across a Mary Davis in some old (1890-1930) family documents. My great-great granparents apparently paid her property tax for her. (She being in Cheyenne, while the lived near Acme[a mining town north of Sheridan]). I have reason to believe that she might have also been known as May Davies who was a sister to my great-great grandmother, with a couple of slight changes to her name. If anyone could offer me help, I would be extremely greatful.
