Have you searched the 1930 census for his parents?--they may be married by 1930 and have children older than your Delmar. Also, you may want to search the Social Security Death Index. Unless he was a rancher, farmer, or worked in Civil Service or Railroad, he should have had a social security number, and if he has passed away, should be on the list.
