Pleasant P. Wesley was born March 31, 1849 in Pulaski Co., Kentucky to John J. Wesley, Jr. and Elizabeth Smiley Taylor. He died Sept. 22, 1884 at Great Bend, Barton Co. He married Susannah Godbey on April 14, 1867 in Pulaski Co., Kentucky. She was the daughter of Joshua Lindsey Godbey and Sally Haynes Randolph. Pleasant was a Methodist minister who joined the Kentucky Conference in 1874. In 1880 he was transferred to the South Kansas Conference. His first appointment was as pastor in the Methodist church in Sedgewick, Kansas for two years. Then to Canton, Kansas for one year. Then in March 1883 he was appointed pastor of the First Methodist Church in Great Bend, Kansas. He served there until he died.
