Hi everyone,

A Swede has asked me for help with a problem of hers. I don't have the resources so I hope that someone on this board might be able to provide some information for her, especially since he was in Wyoming for a while.

Her first note said:
================================================================
"Edward H. Bohlin, born 1895 May 12 in Sweden, came to the U.S. around 1915 or so and started out as a cowboy in Wyoming. Around 1921 he got a part in a Wild West show and moved to Los ageles, where he is supposed to have stayed. He died there in 1980.

He became a very famous saddler and silversmith, there are scores of pages on the net on his work, but I can't find anything about if he was married, but supposedly he had a daughter, who was living in Washington State in the late 1940s.

I have tried all the ways I can think of to find him in the 1920 and 1930, but have come up with nothing, and then I thought of you..."

I checked a few things, including Emibas (a cd made from registrations in the Swedish parish to go to a foreign country), and found a man with the right birthdate but not exactly the same name. (Apparently he is the same person. See her next note.)

This is her next reply.

"Thanks for your speedy reply, and I am pleased if you could help me find some info on Edward H. Bohlin, who indeed is the same as the Emil Helge you found in the Emibas. He seems to have changed his name in the U.S., but his brother's descendants here call him "uncle Helge". He is the topic of an article for SAG...and they don't know anything about him after 1947. (SAG is "Swedish American Genealogist", a journal for the Swenson Swedish Immigration Research Center; comment added by Judy.)

I found him in the California Death Index, as having died in Los Angeles 1980 May 28, also in the SSDI, but have not been able to find any on-line obits for him."

She wants to find if he had children and hopefully find some living descendants, but one step at a time. :-) If anyone can help, especially with an obituary or finding him in the 1920/1930 census (perhaps under a very misspelled name or perhaps one of the names from the Emibas lookup was used), she would greatly appreciate that help. She seems to have done quite a thorough search from overseas but now she needs U.S. help.

Thanks for any help you can provide for my friend!

Judy
